Brandon Dederich

Brandon Dederich, MS, MPT, ATC, ITPT, founder of Movement First received his Bachelor of Science degree from California State University, Pomona with an emphasis in Sports Medicine and Athletic Training, and postgraduate degrees from California State University, Fullerton and California State University, Long Beach with Masters degrees in Kinesiology (Exercise Science) and Physical Therapy, respectively. 

Brandon also completed his Fellowship training from the Movement Performance Institute under the direction of internationally recognized USC professor Christopher M. Powers, Ph.D., PT, FACSM, FAPTA.  

Before Brandon’s professional career as a Physical Therapist, he ran cross country/track and played soccer and was an Academic All-American at Cal Poly Pomona from 1989-1994.  Brandon’s professional work experience spans 25 years and includes tenures as an Athletic Trainer with the Sports Medicine departments at California State University, Fullerton, UCLA, and the Los Angeles Galaxy.  Additionally Brandon has worked with clients of all levels including recreational athletes, Olympic gold medalists, and athletes from the NCAA, NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLS. In 2003, Brandon founded Xcelerate Physical Therapy, with locations in Thousand Oaks and Moorpark. He later expanded his company to Orange County with Sister clinics in Corona del Mar/Newport Beach, Seal Beach, Costa Mesa, and Newport Beach (Movement F1rst, 2016).  

Currently he is the Athletes First (Professional representation agency) NFL Scouting Combine Physical Therapist, having directed their NFL combine prep training since 2013.   Brandon specializes in the understanding of applied biomechanics related to movement and sports performance, gait and running analysis and return to sport/injury prevention evaluations, and pre and post-operative rehabilitation.  

The level of care you will experience in Brandon’s clinics are based on the latest cutting edge research of Dr. Powers and others and in many instances before it has even been published.  Brandon’s personal goal is to provide and even push the boundaries of what physical therapy can provide. 

Emily Ferree

Emily Ferree, PT, DPT received her B.S. in kinesiology from USC in 2013. During her time as an undergrad Emily competed on USC’s rowing team, walked on to USC’s soccer team, and graduated at the top of her major department. Emily went on to receive her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at USC where she earned three merit scholarships from the division, became a USC Town and Gown Scholar, earned the division’s Outstanding Scholarly Achievement Award, was awarded the Order of the Golden Cane, which is USC’s top honor for clinical excellence and leadership and graduated at the top of her class. 

Emily has clinical experience working in acute care cardiac ICU, outpatient neurology, sports medicine, and neurodevelopmental pediatrics. In her final year of physical therapy school Emily completed a clinical rotation at Movement Performance Institute with Dr. Chris Powers where she performed biomechanical movement analysis evaluations using some of the latest technology in the industry to treat high-level athletes and complex sports injuries.  Emily is also a certified Fibroblaster provider for the use of instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization and has completed level 1 training in fascial manipulation. 

Emily joins the Movement First team with a passion for the use of movement analysis in injury prevention and sport specific rehab. Emily is particularly interested in using biomechanics not only to treat and prevent injury, but also to improve performance in athletes to ensure their ability to continue to compete at the highest level possible.
